Steven Clark
About
Attorney
Steve Clark is a Spokane native who grew up in the Valley. His father, John Clark, was an attorney at Crary & Clark, P.S. in the Valley for decades, and was well known as an amazing advocate for his clients. His mother, Ellen Kalama Clark, was a Superior Court Judge from 1999 to 2019 and remains widely respected as a dedicated jurist and judge.
Steve graduated from West Valley High School in 2006 as salutatorian, while serving as the student body president his senior year. He then moved on to Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA, graduating from their Honors Program in 2010, magna cum laude, with a major in business management and a minor in political science. He was awarded the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award for his academic achievements during college.
After graduation from college, Steve came back to Spokane, where he worked as a paralegal for two years with Counsel for Defense, a felony-only public defense office in Spokane. He is forever grateful that he was able to be in Spokane and spend time with his father before his passing in October 2010.
In 2012, Steve moved on to the University of Washington School of Law, where he served as the Vice President of In-House Competitions for the Moot Court Honor Board. During law school, he interned at both the Snohomish County Public Defender Association and at Crary, Clark, Domanico & Chuang, P.S.
After graduation, Steve moved back to Spokane and joined the Spokane County Public Defender’s Office, where he handled a wide range of criminal cases, from trespassing and DUI to possession of controlled substances and third-strike felony cases. He quickly developed a reputation as one of the top DUI trial attorneys in the office, known for his effective techniques in questioning field sobriety tests and breathalyzer machines.
In 2019, Steve joined the firm where his father once worked. In 2022, Steve decided to form Clark Law, P.L.L.C., as the next step in his legal career.
Steve has extensive experience in all criminal matters, licensure hearings, traffic infractions, and domestic violence petition defense. He has represented cases in Washington at every trial level: Juvenile, District, and Superior Court. Steven is proud to have founded his firm, serving the Spokane community to carry on his father’s tradition of a spirited defense of those charged with criminal offenses, and his mother’s reputation for diligent pursuit of justice.
